Why You’ll Love It

This dill pickle ranch dressing recipe offers a fun twist on the classic ranch flavor profile, making it irresistible for the ranch lover and pickle lovers alike. Combining half a cup each of mayo and full-fat Greek yogurt, it strikes a perfect balance between creamy texture and a boost of healthy fats and protein.

While mayo is often viewed as an unhealthy addition, it’s actually a creamy base rich in healthy fats. The Greek yogurt replaces the traditionally used sour cream in this recipe. It adds a tangy note and additional protein, making this creamy dressing not only delicious but also nutritious. The addition of dill pickles and its juice infuses the dressing with a distinctively sharp and briny flavor, putting a spin on the traditional ranch flavor.

Whether drizzled over a delicious salad, used as a dip for veggies, or as a flavorful topping for sandwiches and wraps, this homemade dressing is sure to be your new favorite. It caters to those looking for a healthier alternative to store-bought ranch dressing without compromising on taste, making it perfect for both casual meals and special occasions alike.

Ingredients to Make Dill Pickle Ranch Dressing

This dill pickle ranch dressing uses simple ingredients that you can find at any grocery store. You may even have all of the ingredients at home right now! Here’s what you’ll need.

  • Mayonnaise – mayo adds a creamy base along with unsaturated fats and flavor. I love to use this mayo when I make this dill pickle ranch recipe – it’s a full-fat mayonnaise that’s made with avocado oil.

  • Greek yogurt – most homemade ranch dressing recipes use a mixture of mayo, sour cream and buttermilk. This recipe uses Greek yogurt in place of the sour cream to add some gut healthy probiotics and a small amount of protein. I recommend using a full fat plain Greek yogurt to give it more creaminess and texture.

  • Dill pickle juice – you’ll pour the pickle juice right from the jar of dill pickles! This is the best way to use up the pickle brine in my opinion. This adds that dill pickle flavor and thins out the recipe so that it’s the perfect consistency for a salad dressing. Add more pickle juice if you’d prefer a thinner dressing. Or add less pickle juice if you’d prefer a thicker dressing or to use this recipe as a dip.

  • Dill pickles – finely chopped pickles will add some texture and the tangy flavor of dill pickles.

  • Ranch seasoning – I use Hidden Valley ranch seasoning. It provides that classic, herby ranch taste. Ranch seasoning is typically a mixture of dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and sometimes buttermilk.

How To Make Dill Pickle Ranch Dressing

The best part is that this dill pickle salad dressing is incredibly easy to make.

All you’re going to do is mix all of the ingredients together in a small bowl or mason jar. You can serve it immediately, however, the flavors meld together and intensify as time goes on so it’s best to let it sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Serve it with your favorite green salad, wrap or sandwich. It can also be a great dip to serve with chicken wings, potato chips or your favorite veggies like cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, or baby carrots.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 to 7 days. Some separation may occur and is normal – just stir to combine the ingredients again before serving.

Tips, Variations, + Substitutions

  • Let the dressing sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes (or ideally overnight!) for more flavor depth
  • If you’re not a dill pickle fan, use whatever type of pickles you prefer instead. Sweet pickles like sweet gherkins or bread and butter pickles go well in this recipe!
  • If you want a zesty twist without the strong pickle taste, swap the pickle juice from the jar for lemon juice or vinegar.
  • Make it a spicy pickle ranch dressing by adding a dash of hot sauce, cayenne pepper, or finely chopped jalapeños.
